The Summer of 14′ ( Flashback Poem)

It was the summer I left my parents house and gained total freedom

It was the summer that I discovered Bukowski and his quote “do what you love and let it kill you”

It was the summer that I gained confidence in myself

It was the summer that I started to write again

It was the summer that I met my first love

It was the summer that I thought flaming 151 shots were cool to do at bars

It was the summer when I heard You May Be Right by Billy Joel and finally understood the words

It was the summer I heard Understanding by Seahaven and never felt more connected

It was the summer I stuck my head out my sunroof while driving and hollered at the moon

I never felt so liberated in my life

I hope a pray for another time like that in my life

I feel it coming

I just have to keep strutting
